Wilmcote Locks

Leaving our overnight mooring

With windlass poised ready to tackle Wilmcote Locks, a flight of eleven in total divided into three distinct parts: two outer threes and a middle five.

Trev is lining up to enter the lock.

These loose bricks make gate opening a touch tricky.

The maintenance men have arrived,

along with two volunteer lock-keepers.

Happy happy days!!!

For ease of maintenance and access to this canal side cottage, the status of the towpath here has been upgraded to that of a minor road.

First of these beautiful bridges

Had to take a photo of these two in their boaters neckerchiefs, aptly named Rosie and Jim

A big thank you to our helper for today.

After the width of the rivers the canal seems so narrow,

and what a contrast in the bridges!!!

Approaching Wilmcote - alight here for Mary Arden's House, a visit is called for!!!!

Almost 2 miles and 11 locks in 2hrs 10 mins
