Idyllic rather understates Craycombe Turn
We spent two very hot days here
where hay is still baled the traditional way
and the odd racing kayak passes.
Sitting reading in the shade, BBQing and for me watching the tennis was the order of the day.
It don't get much better than this!!!!
With a welcome drop in temperature we head off for Evesham
Chadbury Lock and a treat, Tony raised the paddles along with crew from a boat waiting to come down.
now gently does it!!
The complete rebuilding of Chadbury Lock was the first major task of the Trust, in 1952/3, being largely carried out by Royal Engineers. It was the first civilian aid project carried out by the armed forces.
Remains of a old railway bridge.
Hampton Ferry and its three blasts on the horn for the ferryman to lower the rope to permit the passage of boats
Opposite the Ferry House is a licenced restaurant.
Arriving in Evesham and Workman Bridge.
Our resting place for this weekend.
Moorings in abundance.
Time for a spot of exploring.
Another Tom Harvey carvings.
The churches of St Lawrence and All Saints, built 100 yards and 100 years apart in two different parishes.
The Bell Tower of the once huge Abbey Church stands between them all within the same churchyard.
Trev finds a museum. It is the Almonry Heritage Centre. A 14th Century building, once the home of the Almoner at Evesham Abbey, it now houses artefact's, exhibitions and information detailing events from the rich history of the area.
It was one of the better museums of the trip.
Fishing the Evesham way.....
Its a sizable Pike!!!!!
Dinner on Jola No6 this evening and then who knows where we will be tomorrow....
