A mile up stream - Stratford -on-Avon

Today's mission is to move a mile up stream to the end of the line - Stratford-on-Avon

Turning left from our moorings and we are soon approaching the A4380 Seven Meadows Road

If  we were on the market for a riverside apartment this sort of location would suffice!!!

Holy Trinity Church hidden in the trees

Approaching Stratford Trinity Lock

Commemorating the generosity of Colin P Witter, the most difficult lock to build because of its unusual depth and the unstable nature of the ground - a silt pit!!!

The work was undertaken by men from Gloucester Gaol and other volunteers.

The remains of the former lock lie beneath the mound upon which stands the monument commemorating the success of the restoration scheme.

It bears the names of various people involved and was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, on 1st June 1974

William Shakespeare is buried in the chancel of Holy Trinity Church. His tomb bears a curse against anyone disturbing it.  No doubt we will be making a visit.

A Inspector Morse Moment!!!

We are moored just beyond the Old Chain Ferry

Charlotte and Jola are moored on the thespian moorings!!!

A Ollie moment  - our first liver spot dalmation spot of this cruise.  We do so miss Ollie dog.....

Well there is exploring to be done.....

1 mile and 1 lock
