Pershore to Craycombe Turn

The reach between Pershore and Wyre Piddle is the shortest on the navigation.

Wyre Mill Club, an old gritmill that was converted by enthusiastic supporters of The Lower Avon Navigation Trust into a Social club and is now owned by the club members.

Wyre Lock is diamond shaped. Many of the original Avon locks were of unusual configuration to reduce erosion of the chambers by the force of water from the sluices.

This is what happens when.....

this goes unheeded!!!

Meandering on towards  Fladbury Lock

with its toipary...

gate paddles on chain....

Moored at Craycombe Turn for the duration of the heatwave.
Time to watch Wimbledon then!!!

Scores on the doors to 30th June 2015

303 miles, 113 locks, 31 swing bridges and 5 tunnels
