Filling with water in the "Barge Arm" at silly o'clock ( 7am) before we await the arrival of a new pump. We were all out of water as I had a shower and the pump managed to fill the bilge at the same time!!!
Trev is on UPS watch while polishing his mushrooms.
The swan family drop by .
The pump is delivered just gone twelve and as we are on 48 hour moorings we move on to Salisbury's and then we are on our way down the Gloucester to Sharpness Canal
Hempsted is the first of many swing bridges - operated by British Waterways keepers which span the canal at regular intervals between here and Sharpness.
The conversation went ....
Chris " That's a big barge, look at the lovely bi folding doors at the back, it will be lovely when its finished"
Trev " Yeah it is nice... we could buy one that that...."
Looking back where the canal has been rerouted to facilitate the construction of a new road and features a massive new swing-bridge of dual-carriageway proportions!
That's what I call a swing bridge and a half!!!
We are able to go under this one but only when the green light shows.
Huffler up ahead and on the look out for moorings.
These are the long term mooring prior to Sellars Bridge and as luck would have it there is room for us on the visitor moorings.
Sellars Bridge is the site of a former oil wharf - how time has moved on!!
Turning point, mooring bollards and mile posts are all that is left.
The bridge is a two man operation.......
and is wound by hand!!!! So pleased I don't have to do it!!!!
We have spent two nights here, Trev has fitted the new water pump and emptied the bilge so all is well with the world.
