Well Brindley has looked after us well and today we move on heading for Marston Junction.
The necessary housekeeping is undertaken at the services and we take our leave of this very pleasant mooring spot.
The canal leaves the terminus through bridge 1, a tiny structure designed to be easily closed with a wooden beam each evening; indeed at one time no boats were allowed to stay in the basin overnight. How very different to nowadays.
Mr Barrett is busy with his new builds.
Much developed Electric Wharf marks the site of the city's original power station.
Plenty of wildlife to see....
the wild fruit coming along nicely
Passing Ricoh Arena, home of Coventry City Football Club.
Hawkesbury Junction.
It's Atherstone for us.
So glad to be out in the open countryside.
The bizarre mannequins at Charity Dock....
Marston Junction where the Ashby Canal branches off to the east.
We moor just beyond bridge 16
8 miles in just under 4 hours.
