We bought coal in Audlem in the hope that the weather would turn warm and we wouldn't need it!!!
The fifteen lock flight takes the canal up 93 feet.
Traditional hand painted canal ware crafted on board.
Audlem Wharf is one of the prettiest ports of call on the Shroppie
The superb craft shop also hosts needlework and craft courses upstairs.
Before entering the lock Trev has to fight the fierce by wash.
We are soon in our stride- I empty open the lock
Trev enters and I close one gate and walk up to open the top paddles while Trev closes the other gate. When the lock is filled I close the paddles and open the gate and walk on to set the next lock while Trev exits and closes the gate.
"The only way it up"
Always time for a chat and I was in need of a doggie photo!!!
and a sheep photo!!!
7 down 8 to go......
and the altitude is getting to me!
Now at this stage all the locks had been set against us (meaning they had to be filled before we could enter) and we had not met another boat coming down- so much for the theory we will move on a bank holiday Saturday there is bound to be plenty of moving boats!!!
Rain stopped play above Lock 3
and we moored up next to this unusual looking boat.
A well earned afternoon tea bought from the farm shop beside the top lock.
