Swindon to Kinver

Sunshine is the order of the day as is locks being set against us - still good exercise!!!

The beauty of this canal abounds.

Hinksford Pumping Station one of several in this part of the valley.

We rest a while for Arkholme to have a drink!

Spot of rambling going on.

Greensforge which later became a mill.

Aptly named Rocky Lock where Arkholme grounded, soon freed with the help of a fellow boater.

Sandstone Rock edges the canal.

At Stourton Junction the Stourbridge Canal branches off towards Birmingham.

Stewponey Lock is accompanied by a toll house

We then pass through Dunsley Tunnel which is 25 yards long,

a rough-hewn bore carved out of rock.

Its getting on for 2 pm now so we decide to call it a day.

Time to explore Kinver.

A good days boating....

6 miles 7 locks 4 hours.

  1. The Cave Dwellings are well worth the walk. We are out of the Marina at last. Well until June for the wedding then we are finally free.
