River Severn Stourport to Worcester

Good-bye Staffs & Worsc., its been a pleasure, so beautiful and rural. Time to wend our way through the basins of Stourport and on to the River Severn

A touch of 'one out one in' between the two sets of staircase locks.

No need to ensure the bottom chamber is empty going down - the water just overflows into the river.

We put the "gongoozelers to good use and asked them to close the gates after us before making the sharp left hand turn onto the Severn.

The head of navigation is just upstream from Stourport Bridge where Gladder Brook enters from the west bank.

We are heading off this way for Worcester.....

off to play with the big boys.....

with serious sea-going communications!!!

Lincomb lock takes the river around the weir.

The locks are all electronic....

and have lock-keepers.....whoop whoop- the
windlass is on holiday!!!!

We rope the boat to the cable to prevent us being tossed about in the wide lock.

Lovely riverside properties.

Yes I do steer occasionally!!!

As well as playing with the big boys we have to watch out for the canoe race.....

Approaching Worcester

We are heading up the locks and into Diglis Basin

Where to now???

Arkholme the Second will be in Diglis Basin Marina until the stork has delivered Baby Allott.......due on 18th May.....we are looking forward to meeting her.....

Scores on the doors

207 1/2 miles - 103 locks  - 5 swing bridges - 5 tunnels
