Time to move on

Its goodbye to Market Harborough after a very refreshing six day stay.  Sam the man ( Foxton Boat Services) came and fixed the oil leak and the gen belts now sit perfectly.  Alas the stern pipe is a job that will have to be done when the boat is out of the water.  The plan is to monitor the situation and if possible get home with it or if not call at a boatyard along the way.  Trev will also have to locate the plumbing leak which will necessitate the floor being taken up - another (Big) job for when we return.  All things considered we are now heading for Leicester instead of London.  The Braunston bunch are desperate for us to change our mind but common sense prevails.

The arm is largely undisturbed fringed with trees and reeds.

With the occasional bridge.....

horsey meeting......

and Great Bowden Hall which looks like a apartment conversion.

Now being well versed in swing bridges, one of these machines usually indicates a automated swing bridge, varying from the whole bridge to just the barriers..... the instructions...... turn key one quarter clockwise to release the barriers....

manually close the barriers....

pull this handle to release a catch whilst pushing the  bridge open....hmmm.

Through the footbridge and we are back at Foxton.

Scores on the doors

310 miles, 102 locks, 10 swing bridges, 1 lift bridge and 8 tunnels.
