Birtsall and Watermead Country Park

Quote from the Captain " I am really glad Leicester was full, this is such a good place to moor".

Birstall boasts a couple of pubs, an all important Co-op and a hairdressers/barbers, taxi office , a chippy
and a couple of fast food outlets.

The jewel in the crown being Watermead Country Park, a green lung for Leicester folk.

Former gravel workings have been flooded to make a haven for birdwatchers, windsurfers, dinghy sailors, ramblers and cyclists.

This is just one of the many lakes to walk around.

The bones of a woolly mammoth were found  in the gravel workings

A enjoyable place to re-charge the batteries.
