Gremlins

So we arrived at Middlewich lunchtime on Wednesday, having made good time and safe in the knowledge that Vetus would be able to supply us with a new toilet switch and at last we could concentrate on enjoying cruising- or so we thought.

Trev went hot foot to Vetus, a company we have used before and in which we have great faith, only to find it was no longer there!!!!

After a bit of on-line investigation and a few phone calls, it has relocated to Aqueduct Marina, which is almost 7 miles up the Middlewich Arm of the Shropshire Union!!!

Out with the windlass  and the 3 locks in Middlewich along with the 2 on the Middlewich Arm are history and we arrive at the Marina  just before 5pm - phew!!
We leave the toilet workings to be checked and await a up-date on Thursday morning.

In the meantime Trev passes the time doing some routine maintenance and what happens-
the generator drive belt snapps and more worrying the adjustment bolt on the stern gland also snapps!!!

Its back of to the marina to buy a new belt - it has to be ordered and will be delivered today( its 1.30 and we are still waiting. They offer a temporary fix on the stern gland.

Its clipped together with a pair of mole gripps!!!
Trev is monitoring the situation as if it comes apart we  are in serious trouble!!!

On the plus side the toilet is now working
wonderfully thanks to a new switch.  Its surprising have satisfying such a small think can be!!!

SCORES ON THE DOORS

115 miles, 15 locks, 5 swing bridges, 1 lift bridge and 3 tunnels.
