Life in the Slow Lane

So Sunday dawned, a bright sunny day, and we awoke to being on the finishing line of a swimming event....

for somewhere in the region of 300 swimmers of all ages and abilities.

The ducks and swans kept well to one side and enjoyed being fed by the many spectators.

Trev washed the boat and enjoyed chatting to the gongoozelers interested in life afloat.

In the afternoon we took another walk into town and did some people watching whilst enjoying a Pimms or two.

So goodbye Marlow....it was most enjoyable!!!!

The countryside awaits.

"A Englishman's home is his castle",and Trev loves a castle!!!!

A rare train moment.

2 1/2 miles and 1 lock....that will do for a Monday....

the skipper is in holiday mode!!!!

We managed a quick walk round Bourne End before the rain set in for the afternoon but not before a certain Mr Bradshaw had led us astray with a visit to the chippy....well there were tables outside...just right when you have a Fen in tow!!!!

This lovely ship reminded us of our time 2 years ago on the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal with the Braunston Bunch.

Waterside humour, the southern way!!!

Cookham Lock and great minds think alike, all wanting water!!

The cruiser gave up waiting and went into the lock, however the widebeam was very, very thirsty.

Cliveden Hall, a National Trust property dating back to the 17th Century.  In recent years it was where Christine Keeler stayed as a guest of Stephen Ward before the Perfumo scandal broke in the early sixites.

Boulter's Lock, a fairly deep one at 7ft 10ins

Very strange moorings here at Maidenhead, Mr B was lucky enough to have a wall ring, while Trev made use of the railings.
We had a quick visit into town, we could have been anywhere!!!

This morning we awoke to torrential rain so the only movement today has been a 5 minute walk to the Thai Restaurant and a yummy buffet.

It Thursday tomorrow and we have managed 6 miles and 3 locks this week!!! We have 9 days left on our licence with Windsor Castle and Hampton Court to visit yet.
