Eckington to Pershore

Moving on and here Huffler is negotiating "Swan's Neck" which is a very sharp hairpin bend.

Bredon Hill is still with us.  It is 980ft high and is an outlier of the Cotswolds with the remains of a Iron Age fort on top.

The sluices alongside Nafford Lock and other similar works on the river are operated by the Environment Agency, which is responsible for the drainage of the Avon.  Much of their work is of benefit to the boater and are interesting examples of navigation and drainage working in parallel.

Nafford Lock

Exiting the lock the weir is on the left and we take the right hand channel.

I only usually take the tiller when nature calls for Trev....

girl power strikes and I am in control for 4 miles!!!!
The art of mooring up is next!!

Moored overnight at Pershore Bridge.

  1. Dear Christine

Apologies for contacting you directly via email.

My name is Philip Wood and im a volunteer supporter of Avon Navigation Trust and am currently redeveloping our website. The Trust is a charity and we all do all we can to promote its use and maintain the navigation and all the locks and much more for all people great and small, across its currently 47 miles of navigable river.

We just love your web site and wondered if we could ask for your permission to obtain or use some of your wonderful photographs upon our new site they are truly excellent and such a great example of what appeared to be a much enjoyed voyage along our beautiful river and its views.

We would of course recognise you as the photographer of course and copywright etc would be recognised in your name.

Thankyou so much in advance and please do contact me on my email as below if I can give you any more information

    Yours Sincerely
    Phil Wood
