Eager and ready to go and we are faced with congestion at Kidlington Green lock. Gridlock prevailed as the boat exiting decided to stay put!
So sideways was the order of the day!!!
That's better - you come out, next boat goes in, following boat moves up and we can then get into the bank!!!!
Good entertainment for Mr Heron!!!
Wow the blackberries are ripening well.
Beryl standing to attention at the first of four lift bridges of the day.
Winding for craft over 52ft is restricted because the canal comes to a abrupt end as the original canal basin has long since been filled in and turned into a car park. With the centre of Oxford almost 3 miles from here returning craft have to descend Isis Lock turn round and go back up - what a waste of water!!!
Dukes Bridge - Dukes Cut Lock and the Thames lies beyond.
Unique use for cycling helmets.
Wolvercote Lock....
Arkholme moored below the bridge whilst we help Sokai through.......then the fun began....
Arkholme is firmly lodged.....
With the help of a very willing, passing cyclist..... and a bit of heave ho we are on our way.
Muddy Waters, the star of the very popular childrens books.
Canal Art Oxford style.
Moored ready to explore the delights of Oxford.
Once Dave and Beryl have had their bicycle repaired we will be descending Isis Lock and the Thames adventure begins.
4 miles, 3 locks and 4 lift bridges.
